Every year First Exposures artists explore a theme which synthesizes the technical elements of photography that they have learned with their own artistic visions.

For the 2014/2015 year our theme was Communication.

Our artists undertook a handful of projects, listed in the menu to the left, that explore how the photograph communicates meaning and the different ways in which that meaning can be interpreted based on context. From collaborations to antique processes to images that look at the overlap of work and family at home, these young photographers have put together a compelling body of work that makes us look even closer at the most ubiquitous form of contemporary communication: the photograph.

Rather than culling this year's work into a singular exhibition or printed book, we thought it much more fitting for it to live online. This website was built as the cumulative portfolio/exhibition for our theme this year.

We hope you enjoy it!
